Occupational Health Services
HPMC has the educational and hands-on experience necessary to support clients addressing a wide range of occupational health issues. We have the capability to develop a comprehensive, compliant occupational medicine program, deal with specific workplace health issues, and perform risk analysis and medical surveillance. HPMC staff were the key professional resource that was sought out by an employer with a worker population affected by beryllium exposure. HPMC has the necessary expertise to guide our clients through the complex and sensitive issues related to worker health.
Occupational Safety & Health
HPMC has the unique ability to bring the traditional safety and health program into an integrated and coordinated system. HPMC was directly involved in the development and implementation of the “Enhanced Work Planning” initiative within the U.S. Department of Energy. This resulted in the development of worker protection instruments such as the Employee Job Task Analysis and Job Hazard Analysis tools. This set the stage for the development, deployment and assessment of an Integrated Safety Management System used throughout a federal agency complex, for which HPMC has won high praise from senior managers who use our methodology.
Risk Communication
Risk Communication is designed to enhance trust and credibility, increase knowledge and awareness, and resolve conflict. HPMC understands that many workplace safety and health issues can escalate into employee concerns and grievances if not communicated in a manner that instills trust in the workforce. We routinely provide guidance and recommendations for effective communication and can serve as a facilitator at meetings for groups who wish to achieve consensus on a controversial topic.
Work Conditioning & Industrial Rehabilitation
HPMC recognizes that the goals of the initiatives within the areas of work conditioning and industrial rehabilitation include early assessment and intervention to prevent injury and illness, minimize lost work time, and ensure a safe return to work. Evaluations are conducted to determine whether employees are capable of performing the essential job functions and physical demands of their job on a safe and dependable basis. Therapeutic conditioning and training programs improve the safety and efficiency of the worker, reduce the likelihood of re-injury, and assist workers in maintaining or regaining the capabilities needed to perform their duties. HPMC provides the services within this work scope which include: fitness assessments; aerobic capability; functional capacity evaluation; work conditioning; preventive exercise and stretching; education.
Population Health Analysis & Legacy Health Management
HPMC understands the value that good analysis and trending of population health data can provide to a management team and has experience in leading a team in studying the epidemiological effects of workplace exposure. Individuals in occupational settings may be exposed to risk factors for disease, but it is through the aggregation of individual health outcomes that the real effect of potential workplace exposures on the workforce is identified. HPMC has qualified and experienced staff able to collect information at the individual level, aggregate the data, and analyze, track and trend the findings to determine the overall impact the workplace has on the population.
